Loving Yellow These Days!

This year has been all about the color, color, COLOR!! Yellow, whether in a top, accessories, or pants, has been one of my favorites hands down. It’s bright, it goes well with almost any other color, and it lightens the mood. Here are some of my favorite yellow creations.

Happy Friday!

Beauty Trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Spring beauty and makeup trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Makeup doesn’t have to be complicated. As shown in these pictures, the seasons big trend is simple, clean, flirty, and natural. There is room to play however. If you want to do a full eye, with liner, shadows, and lashes, go ahead! That is your “stand out” area, or “play” area. But if you do that, then go simple on the lips. This goes for the opposite as well. If you’re doing a bold lip, and oh-do-I-love a bold lip, then go simple on the eyes. You don’t need a harsh liner, especially liquid, when you do a bold lip. You also don’t need a lot of shadow, or lashes. I have naturally long lashes so I hardly ever wear mascara.

TIP: Since I don’t wear mascara every day, to add a little depth to my lids, I sweep bronzer across my lids with my contouring brush. Then, with a shadow brush, I add a little more just in the corner crease. That’s it! Just a natural, beautiful look, without any heavy, harshness.

You’ll also notice this season, that the eyes accentuated. Full lashes, eyeliner on top, highlighter in the corner of the eye, mascara, and natural toned shadows. This is a great day-to-night look as well.  And remember, keep your brows full!!

Style Does NOT Need to Cost You a Fortune!

Some cute, and lovely, and COMPLETELY AFFORDABLE outfits!

I’m a huge believer in spending my “cash monies” (yes that is what I call it) on certain things:

  • Things that are totally unique, that make my gasp loudly outloud in public, and the imagine in my head that I’m rolling around on the ground with excitement!
  • Items that are timeless (i.e. a nice gold watch)
  • Jewelry that I’m drawn to because it makes me think of my life and my family (gold bangles…so many have been given to me by my mother)

I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t think of any right now!

THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE!!

Can You Really Have Great Shoes for Less Than $35? Yes!!

I’m not a shoe person. I know! I know! You don’t get it. Every girl is a shoe person. Well, it’s jut not my thing. I think part of it is just that I have weird feet, with long toes, and terribly high arches so shoes just aren’t that comfortable for me. Anyway! My point is, because I know I wont wear most shoes all year round, especially here with Minnesota winters, I don’t like to spend much on my summer sandles. In fact, I don’t like to spend more that $25 on sandles!!

These are some cute shoes that can add a lot to an outfit, but aren’t great for every day wear (in my opinion). These are an example of great shoes, THAT ARE INEXPENSIVE!!  I know I wouldn’t wear them all the time, so spending more than this is just silly.

ALL OF THESE SHOES ARE UNDER $25!!!

Are you a shoe person? What shoe is worth the money to you? For me it’s leather boots and my running shoes.

Scarves are great year round. Perfect to add a pop of color to any outfit! And no, they don’t have to cost you a fortune!!

Bohemian Style: Bringing life back into old fashion!

Bohemian Style has been popular for some time now. But some people are intimidated by the abundance of color, patterns, accessories, or “fun”. It doesn’t have to be that way though!

Bohemian style is about being relaxed, and looking a bit “un-done” rather than perfect. It’s hard to mess up this style because there’s so much room for individuality.

There are a few things to remember however:

  • Try to pick a color hue (maybe 1-3) and stick to it if you’re wearing a lot of accessories

  • If you’re wearing a dress that’s colorful and full of detail or pattern, don’t wear overly color accessories (i.e. many bangles, a necklace, earrings, head band, rings, and a color bag). Instead, wear maybe ONE colored item, and have the rest be in a gold or silver pallet.

  • Sometimes, something as simple as putting your hair in a ponytail, or bun can take a look from “too much” or “OMG, where did she get that?”

  • What you wear is an expression of who you are. Don’t try to be who you’re not. Be comfortable in your style

  • Contrast is not always a bad thing. Just make sure it’s not over done

  • Keep makeup to a minimum with natural tones

And remember: Bohemian is about being free! It’s about fun! It’s about expression! You can mix and match, just don’t wear everything you have in your closet or jewelry box!

If there are any other rules to bohemian style you would like to share, please do!
