Braided Styles of Expression

I LOVE braids! They’re easy, fast, and make every outfit look more put together. Unless, of course, you over do it! Remember, braids are like an accessories. Too much of a good thing is precisely that; too much! My dad always told me, “subtle is classy” when it came to jewelry and accessories. For the most part, I think he is right. Although, I am one to wear many bangles. Back to my point….braids! They’re great. Whether you’re hair is short or long, or you want to wear your hair up or down, braids can work for you. Braids are especially great when you have a bohemian style. They’re somewhat “hippie”, and I love it! They’re an expression of style.

How do you wear your braids? OR do you hate them??

For the Love of….

Maybe, it’s because I’m a Valentine’s baby. Maybe it’s that I have a huge heart. Whatever the case, I have an affinity for hearts. Especially when used as small details to an outfit, or expression, like jewelry (and the small red tattoo of I heart I have).

Etsy’s always has great handmade and vintage jewelry!

Loving Yellow These Days!

This year has been all about the color, color, COLOR!! Yellow, whether in a top, accessories, or pants, has been one of my favorites hands down. It’s bright, it goes well with almost any other color, and it lightens the mood. Here are some of my favorite yellow creations.

Happy Friday!

The Bold and The Beautiful…No, no, NOT the T.V. Show

This season is all about bold, beautiful colors. Whether it be a colorful blouse or pants, bright eye shadow or lips, or a bold purse or accessory, bold and beautiful is the theme of the season. I know for many people (umm, including me) bright bold colors are sometimes too much. They can be intimidating! You may think, I can’t pull that off.  But you can!!! You just need to pick the RIGHT PIECES for YOUR STYLE, no one else’s!  You dress for yourself right? Not other people.

So just stay true to your instincts and personal style and have fun with it. It doesn’t need to be over thought. What you need to remember is this:

  • If you’re doing to go with bold color, keep it simple. Pick one or two statement pieces, and make sure they go well together.
  • When you’re wearing pastels, there’s more room for additional colors because pastels are light. That doesn’t mean you should look like zebra gum and be every color of the rainbow.
  • COLORFUL PANTS ARE IN!!! Just pick a color that you like. And if you’re intimidated with colorful pants, go with pastel, and match it with a nude shoe, and white top. It’s so much easier that way.
  • Not quite ready to go with color clothes? That’s fine! Get a colorful bag, or some bracelets, or a statement necklace!

Spring Style

I wore this outfit a few week ago on a date night. I love because it was inexpensive, just the right amount of coverage for spring time, and the pink blouse is the perfect shade to go from day to night. Not to mention the whole outfit was less than $50!!

Black Jeans $10.00 from Forever 21

Black Flats $14.99 from Target

Pink Blouse $18.99 from JCPenny’s (Wait, What?? YES! They’ve really stepped it up this season!)

Vintage Finds that are LESS EXPENSIVE and BETTER than their fraternal twin!

Okay, you’re right. They’re clutches. They can’t have a twin. But seriously, these clutches are similar, and the price difference between them is so wonderful it makes me want to dance! I LOVE a good find! I means LOVE IT!
I love things that are nearly one-of-a-kind as well. There is something about vintage items that gives me that I’m an individual, I’m unique feeling. Knowing that I have something that almost no one else is likely sporting makes me happy.  There is often a charm to vintage items that draws me in.
I figured I would share these with all of you. But I’m not gonna lie, I was reluctant! I kept thinking, “Yes, these are awesome! But what if I decided that I want them afterall and someone else buys them first?!” I figure, better to share than to be greedy so you go! The pink vintage clutch from Etsy’s is my FAVORITE!!!
All of my purses with the exception of maybe one or two I bought online. I’m going to make a series out of these amazing deals and how I find very similar items with drastically different prices! Hope you enjoy!

Beauty Trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Spring beauty and makeup trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Makeup doesn’t have to be complicated. As shown in these pictures, the seasons big trend is simple, clean, flirty, and natural. There is room to play however. If you want to do a full eye, with liner, shadows, and lashes, go ahead! That is your “stand out” area, or “play” area. But if you do that, then go simple on the lips. This goes for the opposite as well. If you’re doing a bold lip, and oh-do-I-love a bold lip, then go simple on the eyes. You don’t need a harsh liner, especially liquid, when you do a bold lip. You also don’t need a lot of shadow, or lashes. I have naturally long lashes so I hardly ever wear mascara.

TIP: Since I don’t wear mascara every day, to add a little depth to my lids, I sweep bronzer across my lids with my contouring brush. Then, with a shadow brush, I add a little more just in the corner crease. That’s it! Just a natural, beautiful look, without any heavy, harshness.

You’ll also notice this season, that the eyes accentuated. Full lashes, eyeliner on top, highlighter in the corner of the eye, mascara, and natural toned shadows. This is a great day-to-night look as well.  And remember, keep your brows full!!
